Hi all
I have an 8.5x11 inch photo that I would like to print/scan down to an 8x10
inch size. Appreciate any helpful advice on if/how this can be done. Thanks
in advance.

there are different ways to fit your
picture on a smaller sheet of paper.

but it is unclear what method would be
best for you, since we don't have an idea
of what the image is in order to make
a good suggestion.

however, you could do some experimenting
with graphics software's like adobe Photoshop
or paint.net.

!! IMPORTANT TIP !!
be sure to make several copies
of the original and move your
original to a safe place. then you
can experiment with the copies.

the tools that are provided in quality
graphics software are tools like cropping
and resizing.

another suggestion is that you could create
a free account at Wal-Mart.com
photo department.

there you can upload and store your
images, download photo editing software
that has some automatic tools to fix
many common issues with digital photos
or scanned images.

then you can send off your touched up
pictures to Wal-Mart for printing on
different sizes of paper, calendars,
t-shirts, etc..

i think this is better and cheaper than
using your own photo
printer.

but also developing some expertise
with a graphics software can be
fun as well.

Just scan it full size. If you don't have any experience in editing, go to
www.picnik.com and upload the picture. picnik.com is a free editing service
(they have some premium editing services to subscribe to if you want). Once
uploaded, choose edit and then crop. There is step by step help if you want
it. Crop to 8 x 10 and then save it back to your computer under a different
name.

If you have editing experiance but no software, download irfanview, a great
editing program that is free. You can get it from irfanview.com (or it will
guide you to a downloading site). Use the crop function in Irfanview to
change your picture to 8X10. Use Save As to save the picture under a
different name.

Of course it can be done, but the ratio your requesting will skew the
original image since its a half inch un-proportional. Depending on the
photo manipulation program you currently have it should have a resizing
feature. Presently I use either Photoshop or Elements 5.0 to do most of my
photo work.

Its a resize function within a photo editing program. If this doesnt help,
write me directly with more specifics of your task.
