I have downloaded several updates via this site, however
after reviewing the status list I found several that
indicated a status failure.

Q: why did these fail? How do I reinstall these updates?

Many things can cause failure.
The big ones are not disabling anti virus or other unnecessary
applications.

Manually download the failed updates from the Windows Update Catalog
