Downloads rarely complete.....

Okay, if by chance I missed a thread about this....

So I have XP Pro, SP2, IE6 and all the latest updates. My system is
connected via Ethernet to a D-Link DI-784 to a Siemens 4100 DSL on ATT/SBC.
Lately I have been unable to download most files the first time around. Most
of the time (lately), the files progress stops randomly. Occasionally I can
get the DL to resume by opening a second IE window or by changing the page in
the window that was used to start the DL. When this doesn't work, I have to
cancel and keep retrying until the DL completes.

So is this issue with my D-Link router or IE? Something seems to be timing
out during the DL. The size of the DL doesn't seem to matter, but the
smaller the size, the better chance of it completing the first time. The
larger the DL, the better the chance of it stalling.

Thanks!

Forgot to include that I run Adaware SE, Spybot, Norton AV and HJT, so I'm
sure my system is free of spyware, viruses and such. My ethernet NIC is an
Intel Pro/100 and seems to be working as expected.

If there is more info needed, let me know.

Did you talk to a Rep at Siemens to walk you through the Router web-interface
to get it configured correctly?
Did your issues begin before or after the Router change?

Well the web interface for the 4100 is no longer available to me as I set it
up in bridge mode and let the D-Link do all the PPPOE connection stuff. My
understanding is that in this mode, all NAT and other features of the unit is
disabled. There is no way now for me to get back into the unit unless I
reset it back to factory. From what the manual states, I'm as should be.
This is why I'm looking at the D-Link router and/or IE6 for the problem.

It does seem odd that when the DL stops, I can sometimes get it to go again
by opening another IE window. Leads me to believe it's a timeout issues
somewhere. Hmmm....

While I don't have any real suggestions, you may consider talking to D-Link
again - they are open 24/7 in the US.
