Downloading .wmv files

I recently had to reboot my computer, and have loaded all the software on
there I had previously. However since then, if I try and download certain
..wmv files with Internet Explorer, they will not play on Media Player 10.
These files worked absolutely fine before the reboot. I tried downloading the
same files with a p2p program and they work with no problems with Media
Player. Is there something I can do to reconfigure the way explorer downloads
things, as I really want to be able to do things as I did before.

Reboot means you simply restarted your computer with the same
configuration/software. Your comment implies you reformatted and reinstalled
all your software - is that what you did? And how did you do it?

Basically I got a trojan which locked me out of XP. I had to install the
master cd I got with the pc which wiped what was on the hard drive and
reinstalled everything so the hard drive was exactly the same as when I first
purchased the pc.

It just confused me because the same files played fine before but now it
says that media player cannot play them, unless I download them through my
p2p software.

I hope this helps. Thanks for your assistance so far.
