Recently updated to SP2 (Although this problem is not exclusive to SP2 pc's)
and have noticed the icon for "Downloading upates- 0%" is remaining in my
taskbar, even if none are available or being downloaded. Shutting Auto
updates off, then turning back on again works on some PCs but not all- we're
all on Win XP pro sp1 or 2 in my lab. Thoughts?

thanks!

Mike,

Open Automatic Updates applet (WUAUCPL.CPL from Start/Run) or from Control
Panel. Set it to "Notify me but don't automatically download or install
them", and click OK. This way you can know which updates are available for
your system.

Thanks Ramesh- but I'm administating and supporting 100+ users here and I
need the download and install of the updates to go as "behind the scenes" as
possible- the "Downloading" icon is just stuck in the taskbar- even going to
the Windows Update page, I'm told there are no updates to
install-double-clicking the icon does nothing...is that perhaps more clear?
Seems it's stuck or something...

cheers
Mike F
