Downloading Themes Don't Show..

Having Windows XP, I've downloaded some pretty nice looking themes online,
where most of them have downloaded unbroken onto my desktop. However, when I
open display properties and go to themes, under the drop list they do not
show. I then moved the folders to Windows\Resources\Themes but still have no
result. Do I need to download a program to use these themes or am I doing
something wrong? I'm really asking for help because I've emailed the artists
of the themes but they've never emailed me back. Thank you.

If there is a .theme file, double click it. Double clicking the .theme file shoud
open Display properties dialog box with the theme that you double clicked
selected...

None of them (I have four) have .theme after their own file names and
secondly when I do double click on them, the display properties shows but
once again they're names are not under the drop list...

Help me? :(

I give you an example:

http://www.softpedia.com/progDownload/Royale-Theme-for-WinXP--official-Download-13027.html

Download this theme and run the setup. Do not change the default path which
is "\Windows". It will automatically extract all the files in proper folders
and sub-folders like: \Windows\Resources\Theme.

When installation is complete - right-click on Desktop and choose
Properties. Click Drop Down list of Themes and you will see a new theme
listed "Royale".

This is because just extracting the themes files in \Windows\Resources will
not show the theme in the list. There are 100 of Registry Key which require
to be modify. Maybe you are using the simple themes who doesn't have any
Setup program.

Hope you understand, let us know!

Please be more specific and tell us what you have tried? And What was the
actual problem? Is that was because of Registry Entries as I described? I am
asking you to answer because for future we can be sure about his and can help
others quickly.

Let us know!

1. See you mentioned that you don't see the .theme extension on files in
the Theme folder, do have Hide Extensions on? If so, uncheck them in Folder
Options.

2. Check the following registry key:

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\themefile\shell\open\command

and see that the (Default) value data is set to:

(Default) REG_EXPAND_SZ %SystemRoot%\system32\rundll32.exe
%SystemRoot%\system32\shell32.dll,Control_RunDLL
%SystemRoot%\system32\desk.cpl desk,@Themes /Action:OpenTheme /file:"%1"

When you open Control Panel | Display, what shows up in the dropdown list
for Themes?
