downloading problems

I have been having problems with my computer being slow and freezing up a
lot. I have been trying to run anti spyware and anti virus programs. I have
ad-ware SE and early detection on my computer presently. I ran a scan
withthem and they came up clean. I have been trying to download some of the
sites that I have seen here but when I click on the link a new tab opens up
and then the computer freezes. I can open up Yahoo and search but when I try
to open the link it freezes also. I recently unistalled IE7 and went back to
IE6 thinking this would help. Any sugestions?

Try Ctrl+Alt+Delete to select Task Manager and click the Performance
Tab. Under Commit Charge what is the Total, the Limit and the Peak?

How large is your hard disk and how much free space. Right click on
your C drive in Windows and select Properties to get this information.

How much RAM memory?

Select Start, All Programs, Accessories, System Tools, Disk CleanUp to
Empty your Recycle Bin and Remove Temporary Internet Files. Also
select Start, All Programs, accessories, System Tools, Disk CleanUp,
More Options, System Restore and remove all but the latest System
Restore point. Run Disk Defragmenter.

Hope this helps.
