Downloading problem

I have Vista Ultimate. It does not download any files. I click on a
download link, and the dialog box opens. The progress bar indicates the file
is downloading. The dialog box closes with no error message. However, when
I check the destination, there is no file there. I have tried several
destination folders, but none work.

I have also tried to Run the file instead of Save it. The same thing
happens, nothing.

Are you using a download manager? Downloaded files are stored in a hidden
folder before being moved to the destination folder when the download is
complete. There have been reported problems that some download managers do
not complete the move step.

I have downloaded many files using Vista Ultimate without problems using
Windows Explorer.

Try clearing your cache (Tools--->Browsing History--->Temporary Internet
Files. Click "Delete" and see if that helps.

If not, all I can suggest is a better browser. :)

Not sure what's going on. Suggest directing your download to the "default"
downloads folder using Internet Explorer. Has never failed for me.

At Least you get the Dialog box. I get nothing.
If I do and open and not a save it does download.
Been using FireFox to get around it.

I am having exactly the same problem. Did you get yours fixed, Josh?

I am also unable to save email attachments. I get "There was an error
saving one or more of the attachments. Please check your free disk space and
try again." I think the two problems must be connected to each other. This
has only been happening over the last week or so. No problems previous to
this!

I am running Vista Basic & AVG Free Edition. (And yes I have tried
disabling my AV to see if that was the problem). I have cleared my cache and
run virus and spyware scans but the problem still exists.

In another thread about the email error, there was a suggestion to go to
MSCONFIG file and disable all non-MS services and start up items to try and
isolate a problem program. I did this and I was still unable to download
files or save email attachments.

Anybody know any way to fix this yet?

Cheers,
Kerryn

Nevermind. I fixed the problem!! A clever friend of mine suggested doing a
system restore. I restored the system to a point where I knew things were
working properly and now it's all fixed! Yay!
