Downloading photos from an SD card a second time.

Running the basic Windows photo import program under Vista Home Premium SP1.

After importing from the SD card once (without automatic deletion), a second
attempt spits up saying there are no new photos on the card. Is there
something I can to do reset the card so that it will allow the same photos
to be imported again?

You could open Windows Explorer and navigate to the removal disk that is the
SD card
find your pics and drag and drop them to where you want

I knew I should have explained the reason for my post.

The first import was executed by a guy who didn't know what he was doing and
failed to enter a prefix "tag" for all the photo filenames, which violated
his wife's discipline used in managing over 22k photos. We could, of
course, rename all the photos from this import individually, but there are
over 150 in the bunch. It would be so much easier to delete the first
bunch, and re-import them with the tag.

Frankly, I suspect that if this Reset capability does exist, it lies within
the camera, and not within the operating system. Either way, if someone
knows more about it, I'd appreciate a tip.

FWIW, when an analogous situation showed up once before, I thought I could
fix things in DOS with a rename command using wildcards, but apparently that
capability disappeared when DOS moved from "underneath Windows" to "on top
of Windows." I wouldn't be surprised if the function required is possible
using scripts but, unfortunately, I don't do scripts. :-(

Get this program and use it to set the prefix as you like. It will be
all done in the time it will take for you to further explain the
situation and wait for what you think you want.

I got on the PC this morning to see if I could use BASIC's Name command
under Excel with VBA and it worked. I then knew that my 55 years as a
programmer wasn't wasted. I was happy.

Then I looked up the Bulk Rename Utility and I was ecstatic!

Thank you for the fantastic rescue!

Glad it worked for you. I use it often.
