Downloading incomplete music files

I belong to many opera groups and in trying to download the music files,
which can be quite long sometimes ( about 1.5 MBs or longer) I sometimes get
only about 3/4 of the file and the download box "completes", as if I have the
entire file. When I mention this to the group's moderators, they grant me
Moderator status, instead of simple Member status,and then I have no more
downloading problems on that particular site. But other sites say my
Internet priorities or connections are not set properly, and they offer no
additional help. Yet in other groups I have no problems downloading, no
matter how long the music file is. Any ideas?

This is a function of your (unspecified) download software, which is
ignorant of the fact that the files are "music".

I have Windows XP. Is the downloading software you mention part of it?
Because I wouldn't have any idea what or where it is. Is Media Player the
downloading software? I also have Winamp, but I don't think that has
anything to do with it.

Surely you know which program you're in when downloading music?

You can't download music with WMP - only stream it like a radio broadcast.

You can download from most internet browsers.

I use Internet Explorer. How do I confiure it to recognize long "music" files? Somewhere in the Toolbar?

You can't configure any download manager to recognize "long music files"
They're JUST files for download purposes - something else is going on
that is NOT music related. Try getting a resumable download manager.
