Downloading Folders from Gmail

I have just changed my settings as per gmail instructions, ie
Tools>Acounts>imap account. Properties>Advanced
.. Given port numbers, ticked both boxes Secure Connect>Apply.

Now new message when Downloading Folders:

Imap wishes to alert you the following:

Your account is not enabled for imap. Please visit your gmail settings page
and enable your account for imap access (failure). How do I do this,
PLEASE.

You have to enable imap or pop3 acccess on the gmail website to complete the
process.

You might have better luck setting up gmail as a POP3 account.

By default, Gmail is web access only. You have to enable IMAP or POP
access separately. If you really meant to choose IMAP over POP, go here:
