downloading email to two computers

I have a pop3 Gmail account that I want to download to two computers on the
same network. I checked the option "leave mesaages on server" on both
computers, but as soon as I downloaded on one computer it will NOT download
on the other. What can be the reason.
(how does gmail server know if it is the same computer or another?)

Gmail is the reason. It's "POP server" is not a true POP server and once
ANY POP client downloads a message, gmail's server won't download it again.

Not if you intend to use gmail for the server.
