I am trying to play a windows media clip and all I am
getting is sound. It says that there is an error
downloading codec. How can I fix this?

Windows Media Player only automatically downloads from a short list of
official Microsoft codecs. Your movie file requires a codec not on that
list, it would seem.
GSpot: http://www.headbands.com/gspot/ will tell you which
codec(s) a movie file requires and will tell you whether you have them
installed or not. Just do a Google search for the codec you need and
install it. BTW, GSpot does not require an install- just put it in a folder
somewhere and launch it when needed.

Of all the codecs and codec packs available out there, I have found this one
codec capable of playing just about any movie file I've come across:
http://sourceforge.net/projects/ffdshow/ It may be all you need.

Ian.
