Hi. When I download a .exe file, since last week ( my son would be
responsable ? ) it always saves as a .exe.jpg format. Ex : downloading
install.exe would save as install.exe.jpg ! I have to " rename " the
file in order to use it. How can I correct this ? Thanks for your help.
Win xp pro, French version, sp2.

Before we address this, what does a scan with a current version
antivirus (not earlier than 2004) using updated definitions show?

If your versions of the above are current ones (NAV not earlier than
2004 and using updated definitions), then I'm not sure what would have
been changed to cause this. However, here are two suggestions:

a. Do a System Restore to before your son messed with the system.

b. Try Doug Knox's file extension fix:
http://www.dougknox.com/xp/file_assoc.htm

I would try System Restore first.
