Downloaded Program Files

Hello, I want to perform a 'disk clean up' and its giving me the option to
remove 'downloaded program files' to free up space. Can I safely remove these
files? I do not want to uninstall the programs or 'active x' controls that I
downloaded.

Hi Melody - if you "do not want to uninstall the programs or 'active x'
controls that I downloaded", then leave Downloaded Programs Files alone (or
only selectively delete those [ONLY use the 'Remove' on right click to do
this, BTW] that you don't think should be there [possible malware, etc.] -
use properties on the right click to check them out and be a little careful
about what you delete.) They are located here: %SystemRoot%\Downloaded
Program Files .

You may also, however, want to look at each one of them (right click) and
click on 'Update'. Also, delete and re-download any which show up as
'Damaged' (Note: before deleting, again you can check properties to see
what it is to facilitate re-downloading it).

Thank you, Jim... the program and active x controls loaded correctly and I
wish to keep them because they are from a trusted site... classes I'm
taking... so thank you for the info about 'not deleting'. Have a safe and
