Downloaded installation files are corrupting

G

Guest

Just installed Windows XP on a fairly old desktop (475 Mhz AMD, 256 M RAM).
With amy installed download - Service Pack 2, I-Tunes, Firefox, etc_ when you
run the install you get an error message "Some install files are corrupt,
please download a fresh copy and reinstall". No problem running an install
fron a disc or from another machine.

Any help appreciated.

Some ISP's have the user using compression software. While this works to
speed up the usual internet browser, it screws up some file download
operations. The other possibility is that the scedudled down load time is a
time that has many users fighting for the download server. Finally some
systems have firewall settings that can cause problems.
