Downloadable tech ref on registry?

There's a compehensive-looking Win 2000 Registry reference at

Anyone know of (1) a downloadable version preferably (2) for XP?

I did poke around at Microsoft but couldn't find a downloadable
version.

Thanks, but I?m looking for a document that describes the various
keys, not a program to install. And really I think I?m looking for
a Microsoft document, just because I imagine anyone else is
unlikely to publish would would be essentially a duplicate of a
Microsoft file.

Look on the drive manufacturers website. Most of them have decent
programs you can use to accomplish this and the best part is that they
are free!

That's nice, but I confess that I don't quite understand why a
drive manufacturer might have a comprehensive technical referenc on
the Windows registry. Can you enlighten me?

good. It's an ebook written by an MVP. You can check it out here..

Maybe I just haven't explained well enough what I'm looking for. I
know how to edit the registry, and how to export keys and import
..reg patches.

What I'm looking for is a comprehensive rundown of all the keys
that control the running of Windows XP. In other words, I'm looking
for some documentation (not a program) that will answer questions
like:

-- Which keys list programs run at startup or shutdown?
-- Which keys record the order of Start Menu items?
-- What value causes Start Menu items to be sorted automatically?

I know that it's possible to get answers to individual questions by
googling or answering here. I'm looking for one reference in which
I can look up answers to all sors of questions similar to the
above.

weeks and trying not to accumulate more stuff in the meantime.

Thanks. I overlooked that because I don't really understand the
difference between "Server" and XP. But I'm sure there's lots of
overlap, and I've bookmarked it.
