I was wondering how hard it would be to download windows
xp pro. I do have xp home and cannot decide wheather to
download this or not. Is it really better than home xp
with it's upgrades or not.
Ahhh, decisions, decisions, decisions....
If you have an answer to this please reply.

thanks
Sue

Microsoft XP Professional is normally available only for purchase on
CD's. Any *download* source you are comptemplating is surely not
legitimate.

Some people in some countries use the term "download" to
mean "install" so I wonder what they call a download?
Perhaps "Internet File Transfer"

Windows XP Pro has more tools for security settings and
computer management/user accounts. Otherwise they run the
same applications the same.

Windows XP is commercial software for sale, and can not legally
be downloaded anywhere. Downloading commercial software is
stealing--software piracy.

XP Professional and XP Home are exactly the same in all respects,
except that Professional has a few features (mostly related to
networking and security) missing from Home. For most (but not
all) home users, these features aren't needed, would never be
used, and buying Professional instead of Home is a waste of
money.

For details go to

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/whichxp.asp

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/home/howtobuy/choosing2.asp

Also note that Professional allows ten concurrent network
connections, and Home only five.

XP pro is not something you download. You have to go buy it at a store,
same as XP Home. And it is not a different system - it is the same one
with extra facilities. (and the same updates). Unless there is
something you need to do which is only provided by Pro, leave things as
they are
