I went to C/Net and downloaded Free software but I didn't like the Programs
name. Am I able to change the Name of the Program when it's blue-highlighted
in the window's box?

And if I can, should I add the extention .exe after my new name ??

You can rename it to anything you want but do NOT change the
extension.

That renaming will not change the name once it has been installed.

HUH?

..exe is the extention for a program. My (?) was - if I dont type it after
the changed name - will Window's insert it by default?

My 2nd (?) is when software Title is changed - will I have a problem during
install?

Hope this time I made my two questions clearer.

Thank you,
Jean

When you rename a file, you must rename it completely, extension and
all.

Nope.

I EXPERIMENTED AND GOT MY (2) ANSWERS:

You Don't have to type in .exe as Windows by default will insert it in the
Downloading Window. You can see it there.

You can change the Title of the Software and it will NOT affect the
Installation process.

I should have done this rather than create a confusing Post.

.exe is the extenSion for a program. My (?) was - If I don't type it after

If there's no extension on a shortcut, renaming it from Abc, to Aaa.exe
will give it the name Aaa.exe.exe So, when you rename it, if there's no
extenSion shown, don't add one. If the associated icon changes, or the
program won't run, add the extenSion.

Most installs write to the registry. If you change a filename after the
install, it won't be seen by its associations and registry entries. Any
shortcut can be renamed without causing a problem; the actual path is
still the proper filename.
