Download problem

I have had my current home PC which runs XP for over a year. My Credit Union offers a download feature from their website where I can download my account information in Quicken or MSMoney format to import into either tool. Before I purchased my current PC, I used to do this regularly on my old Windows2000 PC. Ever since I purchased this PC running XP, I cannot download this data successfully. The PC acts like it is doing a download but it never asks where to save the file. The pop-up window comes so quickly that I can't read it. The greeen bar goes across the screen showing a download, then the window disappear within seconds. I have been working around the problem by downloading the file on my work PC and emailing it to my home PC. I have successfully downloaded and installed software. It appear

Now it appears the same problem as occured in a new way. I purchased an electronic book from Amazon. I downloaded and installed the Acrobat reader software successfully. Now I am trying to download the book from Amazon. My PC and the Amazon site both think I have downloaded the file. But I am never asked where to save it. I did a search of my whole PC for any file with the right ext and I don't have the file.

Does anyone know. Is there something I can fix or adjust to get my downloads to work in XP?

Thanks for any help that can be provided.

Kelly,

That solved half the problem. Now I can download my quicken QIF files successfully. I still am unable to download the EBX file successfully from Amazon. I may just try a workaround and try to do that on another PC. I don't anticipate downloading ebooks very often but the Quicken fix will help me a lot :-)

Thanks so much for your help.

Hi Jane,

Windows Explorer/Tools/Folder Options/File Types/[File Type in
Question]/Advanced. Put a check in the box that reads: Confirm open after
download.
