I just bought a sony dsc-p200. The booklet says I do not have to download a
driver for it but when I plug in the usb port nothing happens. I tried
downloading the driver and still nothing happens. I hear the sound when I
plug in but nothing comes on the screen..????

Check if the Memory Stick is inserted in the camera.
If the Memory Stick is not inserted, the camera cannot
be recognized.

Check if the camera is turned on. If the camera is not
turned on, it is not recognized by the computer.

Disconnect other USB devices (except for a mouse and keyboard)
from the computer. If other devices are connected, the camera may
not be recognized properly.

If your computer has multiple USB ports, try connecting to another
USB port. Some computers have different USB controllers for each
port. In this case, connecting to a different port may solve the problem.

Connect the USB cable directly to the USB port of the computer.
If you use a USB hub between the camera and computer, the camera
may not be recognized properly.

memory stick is in, camera is on, no other usb devices plugged in, tried all
the usb ports with no luck.
My daughter has no luck with her camera either. It makes the little sound
when we plug in.....

Open XP's "Help and Support Center" and perform a
search using the word camera. Several useful topics
might solve the mystery.
