Download Critical files

Hi, I'm having problems obtaining Critical Files. The
Automatic update doesn't seem to work. When I go to
Windows Update and the system informs me that I require a
particular file and I press INSTALL a window opens which
tells me that the file are being downloaded nothing
happens. No file is downloaded. It just sits there. When
I cancel another window asks if I am sure I want to leave
this window as I will lose my download file.
Any ideas would be most appreciated. Royston

When the Automatic Updates feature downloads an update, the downloaded files
cannot be installed on another computer.

If the previous link doesn't help use the Update Troubleshooter.
