Hey does anybody know if i can downgrade my OS from Windows Vista to XP?
Only thing though..is that if i buy a brand new PC with Vista pre-installed
already.. would there still be a way to downgrade to XP (by any means
possible).
If i buy Windows XP, can i format my pc in some way that i install XP to
dis-use Vista??

Someone please helpp!! (before i go out and buy a new pc with the flakey
operating system) =/

And there should still be computers for sale with XP installed on them. I
live in Australia, and they are still selling them here new, as well as Vista.

Yep you can easy, I have been doing just that for people for since
Vista came out. Assuming you have a copy of XP - OEM or whatever on a
CD ( I mean a proper copy not a OEM backup disk) you can boot from it,
reformat and install Vista.

http://www.cyberwalker.net/faqs/reinstall-reformat-winxp/reformat-NTFS-XP.html

That tells you how to reformat the hard drive from a XP disk, I have
not actually tried that method on a pre-installed Vista Box directly I
use a specialist Hard Drive Wiping application to totally clean the
drive first, you have to get these apps from the hard drive
manufacturer. But it should work just fine.

It can go badly wrong if you are not comfortable with this sort of
stuff so it may be better if you got some local help, you must have a
mate knows PCs enough to help you do this.

OTOH why not buy a pre-installed XP box, they are dirt cheap at the
moment or insist on XP Pre-installed.

If you buy an XP disc, all you do is put it in the CD, reboot, and follow
instructions. It will delete the partition that vista is on,(on your
instructions!), create a new partition to the size that you want, formatt
the drive, and install windows XP system.

I went to Best Buy 2 months ago to buy a new computer. I told them I wanted
one with XP and they told me they'd already sold all of them and only ones
they had were with Vista. I looked everywhere...........all had Vista. I'm
actually getting used to Vista now and one day I'll be happy I have it.
Remember when XP came out........same ole story........just like Vista
stories now.......everybody wanted Windows 98 back. LOL

Some brands give you a choice of OS when you order a new PC.

Hmmm, flakey.

Sounds like the old person saying "That's not the way we have ALWAYS done
it.
Also sounds like the die hards who actually thought ME was better than Xp.

With an OEM or off the shelf disk you can load windows 98 or Xp or ME if you
want.

There could be a problem with that scenario of installing XP on a
late model PC that was produced for Vista. XP won't recognize
some of the newer devices on the motherboard, since those chipsets
were developed after XP was released. I know for a fact that HP
does not offer XP drivers for a Vista HP laptop I bought recently.
