By buying a Home Basic disc and doing a clean install.

You could always install Home Basic by not entering your product key upon
installation. Then try it out for 30 days. You might find that there isn't
much difference in your frustration compared to the Ultimate edition.
Or you could just remove things from your Ultimate install so it has the
same features as Home Basic. Also turn Aero off to get the full effect.

Boot from the original Vista Home Basic DVD, format the hard drive, and
proceed from there.

Joanna, please don't keep posting the same thing over and over. Wait for
replies to your first post. If you aren't getting replies it is because you
are not providing any information for someone to use to help you figure out
what you have done and how to fix it.

Hopefully, you made a backup of your VHB system before starting the upgrade.
If so, just restore from the backup.

If you did not make a backup and Vista Home Basic came preinstalled on your
computer then use the Restore software that came with the computer. If you
did not get recovery dvds then the recovery software should be in a hidden
partition on the computer. Generally you press a function key when starting
up to restore the computer to factory condition. On my laptop it is the F11
key. You did not say what make and model computer you have, so no one can
really say what you should do.
