Downgrade Rights

I have a Dell laptop which came with Vista Business preinstalled. I would
like to install XP on this machine instead and as I understand it Vista
Business or Ultimate can be downgraded to XP Pro. Can anybody tell me how I
go about doing this?

But, find out if they have XP Drivers for your model computer.

Basically - you can downgrade but YOU must source the media (The XP CD and

Oke doke. So after reading that if I have an XP Pro CD I can install XP.
Then ring Microsoft to activate it explaining that the license I am actually
using is the Vista one not an XP one.

Were you able to avtivate the XP Pro?
I called the avtivation center and they refuse to activate my XP Pro even
with valid Vista Business OEM key on the workstation.
They told me I was miss informed and need a valid XP Pro Key.

At the end I shout at them and they gave me set of ID to activate one machine.
I have to activate 100 XP Pro a month. This is going to be a battle.

If you have so many workstations running XP I would expect the sensible
thing to do would be to get a Volume License Agreement.

Yes, it would be, but volume license aggrement does not apply to workstation
that we sell to customer. VLK cannot leave your company.
We install custom software and then sell complete turn key solution to
customer.

We also approched customers to send us their VLK so we can install corp
version of XP, but their VLK cannot leave their company.

HP, IBM, and Dell workstations always comes with OEM license anyways.

Yes. By calling.

I called the avtivation center and they refuse to activate my XP Pro even

They didn't even ask for my Vista key. When I got through to a person I
explained the XP Pro key had been used on another machine and I was using
the same cd because I was wanting to use the downgrade right and license it
with a Vista Business license. Then the lady I spoke to just told me the
activation number. Could not believe how easy it was, once I got past the
automated part. I had a printout of the downgrade right document just in
case I was challenged.
