Dowload problems

I am unable to download Microsoft Products such as Explorer 7 upgrades,
Windows Defender, etc. I have XP factory installed on my Dell laptop. I
cannot even validate my versioin of Windows. Can someone help with this?

The trick is to mention what the computer DOES, not what it doesn't do.

computer repair person (not a BigComputerStore/GeekSquad type of place).
