I'm planning a Win XPro repair install. In preparation I rolled back IE8 to
IE7 then SP3 to SP2 then IE7 to IE6.
Now in event viewer I have many errors of the type:
Event Type: Error
Event Source: Userenv
Event Category: None
Event ID: 1041
Date: 16/08/2009
Time: 23:15:00
User: NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM
Computer: BLACK
Description:
Windows cannot query DllName registry entry for
{7B849a69-220F-451E-B3FE-2CB811AF94AE} and it will not be loaded. This is
most likely caused by a faulty registration.
I find many posters asking about this error. The answers say it is related
to Group Policy and the uninstallation of IE.
I haven't found an answer that tells how to fix it.
Is it as simple as deleting the key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows
NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon\GPExtensions\{7B849a69-220F-451E-B3FE-2CB811AF94AE
?? Should I just try it and see?
Thanks for taking the time to help.
