double password prompt .PST file

Hi,

I have a password set on my Outlook .pst file so that when I enter Outlook
(2003) I get prompted for my password. Recently I installed Internet
Explorer 8. Now when I enter Outlook, I get prompted to enter my .PST file
password twice.

Is it related to IE8 or just a coincidence that the double password prompt
started after installing IE8. I noticed this happening on my test machine
with Windows 7 and Office 2007 but thought it was maybe a Windows 7 thing but
after installing IE8 on the Windows XP machine, I am not so sure.

Any idea why this is happening?

I'm only being prompted once when I try to repro this in Outlook 2003 on
Windows 7 BETA (build 7000)
If you remove the password, does it work correctly then or do you still get
(a single) prompt?
If no prompts, add the password again; do you get prompted twice again?
If you added the password to password list, remove it from there as well.

Hi Roady,

When I remove the password, I do NOT get prompted for a password. After I
put the password back in, I get the double prompt again. I did not put the
password on the list.

I think it's unrelated. Neither my XP/OL2007/IE8 nor my Vista/OL2007/IE8
systems do that. Try a new mail profile.

Hi,

It looks like it is an AVG 8 related problem. After un-installing and
re-installing AVG 8.5, the problem disappeared.
