I have this weird thing going on where after a Windows Update I have 2
Icons for the same account on the login screen, I only have the one
account and clicking either one will take me to the same one. If it
helps I have a Fujitsu laptop.

There are several users who have recently reported this problem.

The users all seem to have a couple of things in common.

They are using a system that has a Fingerprint Reader and they are all using
the Omnipass program.

A poster named JohanL solved the problem. Here is his post.
after uninstalling my omnipass program, performing a few re-boots and
installing my Omipass program again everything seems to have solved
itself.
Apparently it was some sort of mismanagment of the Omnipass program and a
Vista update.

You might also want to contact the maker of your system to make sure they
are aware of the problem.

You need to contact the maker of the computer you are using for instructions
on reinstalling the OmniPass software.

I got double icons, 2 for standard and 2 for admin after Windows Home and
Student installed. What's interesting is that if put computer in hibernate
or sleep and I open, double standard icon appears and says locked. Finger
swipe shows and then I am in. Called Lenovo and said omnipass is Softex
program and installed by them. Here we go round and round. I am a novice
and not willing to take too many risks.

If I were you, I would tell Lenovo that either they give you a way to fix
the computer they sold you or they can take it back and refund your money.
Softex may make the software, but Lenovo installed it and set it up.

I called Lenovo and it is Softex software. IBM said I could send computer
back to them and they would restore it to original factory condition. I
really do not want to do that. What do you think? Is this that big of a
deal? I have learned a lot from this site and I am going to uninstall the
many trial programs I have to see if that makes a difference.

I read that this was caused by a conflict with Norton and a Windows update.
The solution is to uninstall and re-install the Softex (Omnipass) software.

First, of course, make sure you have the Softex install program on your
restore disk. Mine was under the driver directory, fingerprint software.
Second, backup your Omnipass profile so you can restore it after
reinstallation. This is accessed through the Enrollment Wizard.

Worked for me.

Is there anything detrimental in leaving the 2 icons as is? At this time, its
too much work to bother with installing and uninstalling programs, but I will
if it causes issues such as increase bluescreen errors and stuff.

Also, what exactly does OMNIPASS do? Do I need it? Can I not use
fingerprinting without this program?

I don't think there would be any issues working with the system showing the
double icons at login.

To get information on whether or not you must use OmniPass, you need to
contact the maker of the system for recommendations.

Dear All,

I had the same problem with my Fujitsu U1010 (U810). But seems like I've
found the solution for this. I installed the FingerPrint Softex Omnipass
Utility update version V.5.00.62C that I found in Fujitsu Singapore website.
The link is http://www.pc-ap.fujitsu.com/support/drv_lb_vista_u1010.html.
Hope this work with all of yours.

BTW, anybody know any link for me to buy screen protector for my Fujitsu
U1010 in Indonesia or Singapore? Thanks.

In addition to double icons which does not seem to be uncommon, now I am
having problems with fingerprint swipe. It takes about 10-15 swipes before I
can get on. This just started happening. Any suggestions.

After omnipass uninstalled/reinstalled, double icons disappeared. Reset user
name and passwords for both user and admin account that had same password.
Now able to use fingerswipe. New problem, now getting pop up when checking
windows mail asking me for user name and password for admin account.

I called Lenovo and a great tech, Andre Hardy, un/reinstalled Omnipass.
Double icons gone and everything was fine until windows download and now
fingerprint swipe is gone. Rather than uninstalling/re, I do not know how to
reinstall, can I delete user/standard account, from managing accounts, and
then create another account using fingerswipe and same passwords. Thank you!
