Double Clicking XML - blank browser

Up until a few days ago I could click on any XML file wherever it was
located and it'd automatically load into IE6 SP2 within XP Pro SP2.

Today, I clicked on the XML file and got an error "Windows cannot find
'C:\MyFile.xml'. Make sure you typed the name correctly, and then try
again. To search for a file, click the Start button, and then click
Search." It also opens up a blank IE browser window.

If IE is already open, and I clcik the XML file, it will appear in the
browser as expected.

This is very frustrating in that I use a lot of XML files and want to open
quickly.....

Any ideas?

What's in the Address bar?
What does View Source show?

I could understand if you said you can drag it to an IE window
but I can't imagine what difference having IE already opened
would have.

Check the Filetype association for .xml?

I would try an IE Repair (ref KB194177) except you probably
don't have setupwbv.dll because of XP and can't do one.
Instead you could try the regsvr32 commands listed under
KB831429.

I would use FileMon and RegMon to check for whatever .dlls
were accessed in each case. Compare the two lists.
Summarize the differences and focus on them as points
of possible repair.
