Double clicking on docx doesn't open document

I running Office2007 on a laptop running Vista Ultimate. When I double click
on a docx, Word2007 opens without any document or blank page showing. Then a
dialog appears stating "Windows cannot find '<the document and path appear
here>'. Make sure you typed the name correctly, and then try again."

If I close Word2007 and double click on te document again it opens properly.

Probably no need to close Word. Just double click on the document again. I
believe that the problem is caused by a timing issue with one part of the
program giving up before the program has started completely.
