No mouse action

In Word2007 when I click on the Ribbon my mouse acts normally. When I click
in a document the insertion point does not move to where I clicked (it
doesn't move at all). Mouse actions in Excel and Powerpoint are normal. I
tried closing and reopening Word2007 and that did not help. Rebooting my
computer and opening Word2007 did not help.
