Hi,
I have an icon on my desktop which is a shortcut to an application.
This application is one that you probably haven't heard of, called
Magicut. It has worked fine for at least two years, but suddenly over
the past week it has stopped working. When I double click on the icon,
the hour glass appears for a few seconds, but then disappears and the
application does not open.

I appreciate that you probably don't know this application, but as a
general rule, is there anything I should try when an this happens? It
has happened occasionally in the past with other applications.

I don't think that this is a problem with the application itself, but
I can't be sure. I think it's an XP problem.

Thanks in advance for any help you can offer,

Colin

If you can start the application from the exe file and there's no problems, then try
re-creating a shortcut to the application.

If it is the only shortcut exhibiting this behavior, then odds are it is not
an XP problem. Go to the Magicut folder and double click the program's .exe
file. If the program opens, create a new shortcut to it and replace the one
on your desktop. If the program doesn't open, reinstall Magicut.
