Double clicking folders opens Search Companion dialogue

Dear Microsoft Users:

Since installation of a Microsoft Windows XP Home edition
service pack, each time I double click on a directory or
folder results in a "Search Results" dialogue box.
Previously, I would normally see the folder's contents.
Is there a way to change the double click default to view
the contents of a directory / folder rather than the
search dialogue box?

Thanks.

Start - Run - regedit.exe
Open the left pane to
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory\shell

And in the right pane double click Default and enter the explicit four
characters

none
