double click to open files & folders

For some reason whenever I single click on a file or folder it opens, instead
of the usual double-click. This is a major headache, how do I fix it?
 
Hi

Open Windows Explorer, then go to Tools>Folder Options. Bottom of the
screen 'Click items as follows'.
