Double click Searches folder NOT opens

I have this problem which is very annoying. For some reason when I
double click a folder it searches the folder instead of opening it for
browsing. I can't think how to change it. I have to right click and
then choose open which is several headings down. Linked to a screen
shot so you can see exactly what I mean.
