Is it possible to turn off the Windows feature that allows you to rename a
folder by doing a slow double click on the folder name?

I teach beginners and they are not very quick at the double click to start
with and folders keep getting renamed and dragged to other folders.

You can adjust the sensitivity of the mouse double-click. Control
panel - mouse. A little fish jumps or something. You could just make
it faster so a 2 second click is not assumed to be a double click.

Thanks to both of you. I did know about adjusting the Mouse click speed.
Unfortunately this teaching usually goes on in Schools and Libraries and
access to Control Panel is restricted.

Yes, that's exactly what I mean. It shows itself up more when new users are
trying to save a file in a folder using WORD or similar. If they are too slow
clicking on the folder they want, it goes into this 'remame' state, and then
they accidentally drag and the folder gets moved to somewhere else. Other
users in the class see the folder for one minute but then it suddenly
disappears because someone as accidentally moved it to become a sub-folder
somewhere else.

I agree slowing down the Double click feature may help, but as I said, I am
not always given access to Control Panel in a public library.
