Yes, but if your printer connects via a parallel port, you may find
you are unable to do much else while printing. That has been my
personal experience: high CPU usage while sending data to a
dot-matrix (Panasonic KX-P1124i) printer attached to a parallel port.
Yes, even if you don't have a specific driver then you can always use the
Generic Text driver. In fact this driver is often faster than the
manufacturers drivers.
