I just intalled a Dos programm in my computer. After I
lauch it, le programm closes by itself after 10 seconds. I
tryed with another Dos programm and it does the same thing.
I tried all options of compatibilities but nothing changes.
What can be the problem? Is it Windows XP Home Edition?

The configuration of my Compaq Presario is processor AMD
Athlon XP, 1.66 GHz, 449 Mb of RAM, Windows XP Home Edition

Thank you for your help,

Erau

What DOS program did you install?

Have you tried opening a command prompt window and then running the program
within this window by switching to the correct folder and typing the name of
the EXE file?

What programs are they? Although many DOS programs work under
Windows XP, not all do.

You may want to try opening the command prompt window first and then
running the program. Start> Run> cmd and then type the command needed to
launch the program and press Enter.

It's a program is called Topos. It's used to do
calculation survey. But the problem is not the software,
it's Windows XP Home Edition because the same programm
works on another computer with Windows XP Pro installed for
operating system.

I still don't know why it does that. I launch any dos
program and after about 10 seconds, the program stops. I
installed from Windows XP Pro over Windows XP Home Edition
and nothing changed. Anybody have a clue?

No, that's not what it is. Any program that works under XP
Professional will also work under Home. Home and Professional are
identical except that Professional includes some extra features,
mostly related to networking and security. There is no difference
in support for DOS programs.

If it works on another XP system, you're right that it's not the
program. There's some difference in the two machines or their
configuration.

Sorry, I don't know the particular program, and can't be of any
more specific help.
