I am trying to run an old DOS program from my winxp laptop. when starting,
all i get is a blank screen. This old DOS program runs fine on another winxp
computer as well as on win2000. Laptop is a Dell. Anyone know of a registry
entry that would cause this as the dos configuration files are identical on
all three machines.

Any help appreciated.

Try to run it using emulation mode and install latest compatibility and
service packs to provide best result

Very odd indeed that if your program is true DOS it works
on XP at all. XP does not have DOS. It is not written on
or over DOS and therefore does not have it. There is a DOS
emulator by way of the command line interface but do not
mistake this for DOS it isn't. You can try to run the
program in compatability mode for 2000 or 98 if you like
and see if that helps. Keep smiling.
