Dos based printing from client computer

I have an application thats dos based and needs to print to an lpt port. In
win95 a shared printer can be configured to be maped to an lpt port on the
local machine. I can not see such an option under xp. More complicated
rather than a network share I need to map and lpt port to a physical lpt
port on the machine on which the remote desktop client is running. So that
the dos based program thats running on the xp machine under reote desktop
can print to the client computer.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Jaime

The only thing I can find is that I need to share the local printer on the
client machine and then connect to that using the net use command. however
is there a solution when working over the internet for example when it will
not be possible to map the local printer? (say different subnet etc.. or vpn
configured only to route server ip trafic down the vpn, thus the server wont
see the local share (will it) )

many thanks
