DON'T WE HAVE ENOUGH PROBLEMS IN THE WORLD??

It is I who has carried it on, I have tried to answer each person One on
One. Bobcat hasn't been here since the beginning...

Go hug your wife... Geez there are Bigger things to get offended over. Move
on and just be helpful and not spiteful...
You all have a great group here, if the guy says it helps him, what the
Hell is the Harm?

What the hell does your rampage have to do with the accepted rules for
newsgroups? OK, 2 to killfile now.

He can't help it; he was a marine (so he claims.)
Have you ever read/heard about a sane marine?
Me neither.

Ok! I'll make a deal with you.. Where are the Rules Posted for THIS
Newsgroup. I will read them and I will abid by them. Note, I only agreed with
Bpobcat. But Please! do tell me where Microsoft has the rules and terms for
useage of these newsgroups and then tell me where I might find it is not
permitted to use CAPs, I will abid by what MS has set as their standard, not
what YOU have set.

Now now preacher, Marine is proper with a Capital M, so if you are going to
preach etiquitte, let's lead by example and use the capitals where they are
required, Proper nouns are one for sure...... second grade, I think...
Sane Marine? I will gladly put one Marine up against any 30 of you and
your friends I will still have the lead, by far for Honor, Pride, Intigerty,
and Intelligence. You would never know and you would never be able to
understand the meaning of being a Marine... That is for the FEW.

Amazing I have still never seen any rules for CAPs.

Why not search google for Usenet manners? I'm no saying I care, but you
keep presenting that there are no rules and only a few people care, but
if that was the case there wouldn't be so many places with instructions
on Usenet manners.

But Please! do tell me where Microsoft has the rules and terms for
useage of these newsgroups and then tell me where I might find it is not
permitted to use CAPs, I will abid by what MS has set as their standard, not
what YOU have set.

MS doesn't own all Usenet, they just port their Usenet to the rest of
the world like others.

Here is a online document that explains what has been said about CAPS
and such:

http://www.mckinnonsc.vic.edu.au/la/it/ipmnotes/internet/netiquette.htm

http://www.digitalspace.com/avatars/book/appendix/netiq.htm

Now you don't have to believe us - google has hundreds of sites like
this.

Stating certain professions are required to type in all caps (that's the
first time I've heard that one) does not jive either.

40 years ago I worked for several years for a railway as a
telegrapher. A big part of my job, and the most critical part, was
to receive train orders from the dispatcher and to type these onto the
appropriate form for delivery to the train crew.

The typewriters we used for these train orders were special ALL
CAPITAL machines with no lower case letters at all so it was never
necessary to use the shift key when typing the orders.

We also used telex machines for sending various messages, and again
these were ALL CAPITALS.

But such instances are rare, I agree.

Your FIRST website is a British one and I don't spell as they do nor do I
bow to Royalty. So the first site is worthless.
the second site is ironic I went down just a little bit to the section
that read Social Acronyms and they are ALL in CAPs.. How ironic.
Understand I don't care what has been written, I do NOT use smileys to
express, I use words and unless you can produce a rule or term of use for
these Newsgroups, I would have to say your request IS NOT GRANTED. But mere
opinion and one I do not intend to adhere to.
The early computers ONLY wrote in UPPER CASE and lower case is new in
the computer world..... Tsk Tsk

I will use what I want when I want, with or without your blessings and I
will do so without the loss of any sleep. IT is totally Insane to think a
person is SHOUTING when using Caps. Geez! Get a Life. With all the things
you could be writting about or helping to change, you seem to be Hell bent on
stopping people from using the dang CAPS key. Good God, man has the world
gone that crazy? LOL

It is true that most people, myself included, find posts that are
written in all capitals to be harder to read and to understand. The
convention that the use of capitals was considered the equivalent of
SHOUTING goes back to the early days of personal computer when DOS
mode applications were used and there was no way to use different
fonts or to add emphasis by using bold and/or italic type. So the
only way to make your comments more emphatic was to put them into all
capitals.

Most people who post to these newsgroups do so because they are
seeking advice or assistance regarding a problem. In this type of
situation it is just common sense to avoid doing anything that would
tend to discourage those who might provide this advice or assistance.
A posting in all capitals might only turn off a few people (myself
included) but if those few people included the one person who had the
actual correct answer for you then you have defeated yourself.

Good luck

Yes, you're absolutely right. Compared to the problems in Iraq, worrying
about little dll files suddenly seems very very trivial.

What I'm currently concerned about is in a few years from now the US
will be electing a new president. Who will actually want to inherit the
current problem in Iraq?

I would have to say your request IS NOT GRANTED. But mere

Craig - I made no requests of you. Several times I've said that I don't
care if you post in all CAPS or not. I just thought you might want to
know why and that you will get less help/responses with help by posting
in all caps. Sorry you don't believe in following the customs of a
community.

There is no problem in Iraq. It is the Iraq's who brought the
problems, if any, to themselves. We are only trying to liberate them
and to give them a taste of civilization!

LOL! Tell that to the tens of thousands of INNOCENT IRAQIS that are now
dead.

Good for you, I'll mail you a quarter to call someone who cares.
Ignore me if you want and if you are offended by someone using Caps
keys, you need more than reading glasses. You could just try helping
and not bashing. You see if you show favortism to people who use
only lowercase, you are Prejudice.... Good God, I am talking like a
Liberal... LOL. Help me, give me a gun quick......

Those looking for help need to be willing to help themselves. This is
not bashing.

I use a 27" 16x9 HDTV as my monitor, and I sit far enough away from it
so that I need my nearsighted prescription to read the large fonts.

There are many ways to help yourself see a computer screen better, but
using caps, and looking for help in a newsgroup is gonna get you flame
every time. Out of all the BS netiquette things out there, ALL CAPS is
nearly universally loathed by Nazis and Commies and those in between
those two extremes!

I assume when you post a message the intent is for others to read what you
have posted. I, and I believe many others, do not read posts that are in
uppercase. Posting in uppercase is simply bad manners. There are many bad
mannered people in the world if you choose to be one of them so be it.

Sorry, I'm a bit confused. Which country did you mean they are going to be
electing a president in? ;)
