Don't want automatic restart with security updates

I have Windows XP Professional, and when they have a security update, it
automatically restarts my computer. How can I just be notified, and then I
can manually restart my computer on my own schedule? I realize this is a Word
discussion group, but I am unable to find a Windows discussion group.

Thanks. I went to the listing and was overwhelmed. I clicked on one that
seemed appropriate, windowsxp.security_admin, and was unable to figure out
how to search or ask questions. I am not a techie.
