I have had 13 trojan viruses. A computer type friend said that there is too
much damage (as I cannot access media player, clip art, msn messenger, sign
in with messenger explorer or use or use internet explorer) and that I should
save everything and start the computer up as new by putting it back to
factory settings. He got rid of the viruses and I now have spybot search,
AVG free and Ad-Aware SE protecting my computer and my computer seems to be
safe but if any soft ware uses internet it dosent open at all. My serach
function and help and support function don't work either so I can't even find
out how to restore my computer to factory settings. I have windows xp if
that helps? I'll try anything!!

He probably means you should backup your important files and reinstall
Windows. This is because the problems are too serious and everything might be
fine if you perform a clean installation of Windows. If you do not know how
to reinstall Windows by yourself, seek some help from your friend.

What is the make of your PC?
Do you have any instructions that were supplied with it?
How are any disks that were supplied to you labeled?

If you have an OEM machine (HP, Dell, Sony, eMachines, etc.) read the
manual that came with your computer or contact the OEM's tech support.
Otherwise:

And otherwise to that: take the machine to a professional computer
repair shop (not your local equivalent of BigStoreUSA) and have them do
it for you.
