Factory restoring

Hi everyone

my question is Is it bad for your computer to be restored back to factory a
few times.

My computer due to many problems was restored back to factory about a month
ago.

Last week once again i had major problems and it was put back to factory
again.

Now i have downloaded SP1 on it, reinstalled office 2003 and nearly got it
up running perfectly EXCEPT i installed internet security 2005 (i brought
that 2 days ago) and it installed incorrectly due to firewall and other
things, i unistalled it and reinstalled it again but now it wont install
correctly at all. It doesnt read the cd and when i finally manage it to read
it installs but then doesnt open and comes up with many errors.

i was thinking i have had that MANY Problems that i would just like to start
all over again so i was going to restore to factory (for the last time) and
then put SP1 on then office and then internet security (norton) 2005 back on
and hopefully that would fix it since im starting completely utterly clean.

im jsut worried that since its been done twice that a 3rd time might somehow
damage my hard drive - ive been told that that is what factory restore is for
is to use and if it was dangerous it wouldnt be on the system :)

any advice would be totally appreciated
thanks in advance

The read/write head of your hard drive does not even touch the disk surface,
so restore away.

3 times per day for a month is no big deal. The same thing happens if you
are using your machine a lot. The computer reads and writes and reads and
writes. Without anything touching the disk other than air...

Just my personal opinion. I would stay away from some Norton Products as far
as possible

Restore all you want.
Go to 3 times day if you want, there will be no problem for the computer.

thanks a bunch to all of you, i just thought 3 times a month was a bit to
restore your computer back to the fresh lovely factory settings (and once
again lose my installed programs) but thanks for telling me that 3 times a
day would be fine - not that i plan on doing that.

thanks Peter for your opinion but i just paid $130 2days ago for norton
internet security 2005 and i cant take it back, so i have to live with it. I
know everyone has a different opinion but for god damn $130 it WILL BE
GOOD!!!!! LOL

thanks again everyone, in the past two months i could hug sooo many ppl
here, as i was totally lost and was about to crack it majorly and throw my
computer away but it was the ppl here that saved me. Thank you
alllllllllllllllllllll soooo much!!!!
