I've got a problem getting a Domain PC to talk to a Workgroup PC.
Here's the simple setup: pcA, B & C all runWindows XP SP2.
pcA & pcB are on a workgroup. pcD is a member of a domain (work reasons).
All three are connected to a hardware firewall / NAT / DHCP server so all
have local 192.168.111.x addresses.
I can access pcB from pcA using the pc's name, but not so from pcD. The only
way to access pcA or B from pcD is by using their IP address. Why?
Also, there's not way from either pcA or B (the workgroup PCs) to access pcD
(the one on the domain). Why?
I'm not even sure how pcA resolves pcB's address in the first place given
that I don't have a DNS server (at least I don't think I do).
Can someone shed some light on this topic?
Thanks
