Domain / Workgroup Mistake

S

Stephen

My laptop was set to my work domain and my brother in law
needed some files from it. I changed from the work domain
to the same workgroup as on his computer. Since then the
laptop loads as normal and when the ctrl+alt+del logon bit
comes up it won't let me log on with my old username and
password. Have I stuffed it or is there a way to fix this.

Thanks

Unless you know the password for a local account on the system then yes,
you've stuffed it.

Your techies at work will be able to fix this for you, as they will know two
pieces of necessary information:

1) The credentials for a local account to log into the laptop with.
2) The credentials for a domain account with the rights to join the machine
to the domain.

For future reference, it is not necessary for workgroup/domain names to
match to be able to do peer-to-peer file-sharing.
