The trust with use NTLM authentication and will use
NetBIOS and WINS to perform name resolution.

The trust will exist between the NetBIOS names of the two
domains, which are unique. It is therefore possible to
create the trust.

In addition to what Neil suggested, please consider using
NETDOM to create the trusts. Sometimes with the GUI (
ADDT MMC ) you can do everything correctly yet the trusts
simply can not be created. I have experienced this
several time. I throw my hands in the air, curse a bit,
use NETDOM and I am all smiles!
