Domain Safety

Hi
In my current settings I have a domain controller which
contain global catalog server and an additional domain
controller. These two domain controller are in seperate
Subnets 172.30.102.0(Global Catalog Server) and
172.30.102.64
I want to configure another domain controller in
172.30.102.0 subnet for the sake of safety.

My question is if primary domain controller(Global
Catalog Server) crashes will every thing keep on working
with addition domain controller and whats about Global
Catalog Server where it will be after crash.

If this configuration does't work then please suggest
(Other than Backup) something which will help me keeping
safe my domain

Make all three DCs Global Catalog servers. In a single domain environment
this is recommended, and no, there is no additional replication burden.

If your only GC fails, Win2000 and higher clients will have wont be able to
logon, as they look for a GC not a DC for logon. Same goes for Outlook, and
a host of other apps.

The recommended minimum is two GCs per domain, and at least one per site/
subnet.

If you make them all GCs, don't worry about the infrastructure role holder.
