domain requesting multiple logon screens

Previously if I was logged into the domain and I choose to
go to another area of that domain, I would not get
prompted for a password, but now I do. What would cause
this?

Is the other "area" in the domain? Is your account locked? Do you have
permissions to access the other "area?" Are you sure the password prompt is
for your domain credentials? Often times if any of the first questions are
the issue, you won't get prompted for a password; you'll just get denied.
